Maheshwari & Co., a law firm with Pan India presence in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized “National Summit on Bankruptcy Law” on 21st March 2017, at PHD House, New Delhi. The summit was well attended, in which panelists and delegates from across the spectrum and all over the country participated and expressed their views on the most debated topic of the legal and banking fraternity. Theme Presentation on legal prospective was delivered by Mr. Vipul Maheshwari, Chairman, Law & Justice Committee, PHD Chamber and Managing Partner, Maheshwari & Co. Advocates and Legal Consultants.
Numerous legal and technical experts from across the Industry addressed the crowd of more than 75 people representing various organisations from different parts of the country. The summit was aimed at benefiting the industry at large to deliberate on the issues and challenges on the newly introduced code.
In the inaugural session, Chief Guest, Dr. TK Vishwanathan, Chairperson, Bankruptcy Laws Reform Committee addressed the gathering and explained the ecology and objective behind the new Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 and Shri Virendra Ganda, President, NCLT Bar Association gave a special presentation on practical issues plaguing the legal fraternity. The session was also addressed by Mr Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman, Banking Committee, PHD Chamber.
The technical sessions of the summit were addressed by Shri Ambika Prasad Mishra, DGM, Stressed Assets Management Branch, State Bank of India; Ms. Jyotsna Chaturvedi, Principal Associate, Maheshwari & Co.; Mr. Sanjay Grover, ICSI IPA; Ms. Mamta Binani, Immediate Past President, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India; Mr Ravi Singhania, Co-Chairman, Law & Justice Committee,PHD Chamber and Mr Suman Jyoti Khaitan, Former President, PHD Chamber.
Speakers deliberated on the various practical issues which the Companies and Banks are facing for filing the application under the code and the challenges which the Insolvency professionals are facing while implementation of the resolution plans while adhering to the very aspiring deadline set up by the legislation.
